Grief & Loss Counselling
When something important is no longer there
A gentle space to process the death of a loved one, pet loss, breakups, and the quieter grief that can come with life transitions or feeling far from home.
Grief & Loss Support
Grief can feel different from person to person. Sometimes it comes with sadness, tears, or longing. Other times it feels more like numbness, anger, guilt, confusion, or feeling disconnected from the life around you.
You may still be going to work, taking care of others, or trying to keep things together on the outside — while inside, something feels changed.
Not all grief comes from death. Sometimes it comes from a relationship ending, losing a pet, moving away from home, friendships changing, or realizing that a part of your life is no longer the same.
You may not always call it grief, but you can feel the loss.

At Love Heals Counselling, I believe grief hurts because connection matters. When something important is no longer there, your heart may need time to understand what has changed.
An Attachment-Based Lens
Grief can feel so painful because the person, pet, relationship, place, or part of life you lost was connected to your sense of comfort, safety, routine, and belonging.
When something important is no longer there, your emotions may need time to understand what has changed. You might feel sadness, anger, longing, guilt, numbness, or confusion — sometimes all at once.
In counselling, we do not need to rush toward “moving on.” Instead, we can slow down and make space for what this loss means to you, how it has affected your life, and how you can begin to carry it in a way that feels more manageable.
Healing does not always mean letting go. Sometimes it means finding a new way to carry what mattered, while slowly reconnecting with life again.
How Counselling Can Help
Grief counselling is not about rushing you to move on. It is a space to slow down, understand what this loss means to you, and begin to find steadiness again at your own pace.

Sadness, anger, guilt, numbness, longing, relief, confusion — there is room for all of it.
We can explore how this loss has affected your sense of safety, identity, belonging, relationships, or future.
Not by forgetting or forcing yourself to be okay, but by slowly reconnecting with life in a way that feels manageable.
My Approach
Grief can be shaped by culture, family expectations, identity, relationships, and the ways we learned to hold emotions. Some people grew up being told to stay strong, keep going, or not talk too much about pain.
In counselling, we can slow down and make space for what feels hard to name. My approach is trauma-informed, attachment-based, culturally sensitive, and LGBTQ+ affirming. Together, we can explore how this loss is affecting your sense of self, connection, and everyday life.
