ICBC Counselling Support

After an accident, it may feel hard to settle again

After an accident, it’s not just your body that’s affected. Your nervous system and sense of safety can feel shaken too.

You might be experiencing:

  • Ongoing pain or discomfort in your body
  • Fear or anxiety around driving or being in traffic
  • Trouble sleeping, focusing, or relaxing
  • Feeling irritable, overwhelmed, or not like yourself
  • Feeling stuck, alone, or frustrated with recovery

You don’t have to push through this on your own. There is space to slow down, process what you’ve been through, and begin to feel more like yourself again.

How ICBC Counselling Works

Have an active ICBC claim?

You may be pre-approved for up to 12 counselling sessions within the first 12 weeks after your accident — with no doctor’s referral required.

I offer direct billing to ICBC for approved sessions, with no top-up fee, so you can focus on recovery instead of paperwork.

You’ll need your ICBC claim number, PHN, and accident date so I can confirm direct billing.

03

Begin counselling at your pace

Sessions can help you understand stress responses and gently rebuild a sense of safety.

What Counselling Can Support

Counselling can support both your emotional and physical recovery

After an accident, your body and mind may still feel on edge. Counselling can help you understand these responses, process what happened, and gently rebuild a sense of safety.

  • Rebuild a sense of safety in your body
  • Process the accident at your own pace
  • Reduce anxiety around driving or traffic
  • Support pain, stress, and overwhelm
  • Improve sleep, focus, and emotional balance
  • Feel more like yourself again

Why Work With Me

A trauma-informed space for recovery after a car accident

Jenny Hsuan Fang Hsu is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) offering ICBC direct-billing counselling in Vancouver and online across BC.

I bring both professional training and lived experience into this work. I’ve been through a car accident myself, and I understand how the impact can stay in your body and nervous system — even after everything seems “over.”

My work is grounded in a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and biopsychosocial approach. This means we go at a pace that feels safe, consider how your body, emotions, and daily life are connected, and explore how culture, family expectations, and identity may shape your experience.

I also hold a Post-Degree Diploma in Psychosocial Rehabilitation, which supports my work in recovery, pain management, and helping you rebuild stability in everyday life.

  • Feel more steady and in control
  • Understand what your body and emotions are responding to
  • Reduce fear and overwhelm
  • Gradually rebuild confidence in driving and daily life
  • Reconnect with yourself and your relationships

I offer sessions in both English and Mandarin, and aim to create a space that feels respectful, inclusive, and grounded in your lived experience.

FAQs

About ICBC Counselling

Is ICBC counselling complicated?

Usually, no. If you start within 12 weeks after your car accident, ICBC usually pre-approves counselling as part of your recovery care.

  • No doctor’s referral is usually needed
  • Up to 12 counselling sessions may be covered
  • No out-of-pocket cost or top-up fee for approved sessions
  • Direct billing to ICBC is available

To get started, you usually only need your ICBC claim number and Personal Health Number (PHN).

Can I attend counselling online?

Yes. I offer in-person sessions in Vancouver and online counselling across British Columbia.

Do we only talk about the accident?

Not necessarily. A car accident can affect stress, sleep, relationships, work, and how safe you feel in your body.

What if I feel anxious about driving after a car accident?

Feeling tense, fearful, or on edge while driving can happen after a crash. Counselling may help with the emotional impact of the accident, including driving anxiety and feeling less safe on the road.

What if I’m not sure if I need counselling?

That’s okay. You can book a free 20-minute consultation to talk through your situation and see if this feels like the right fit.

What if I do not know the exact words for what I am feeling?

You do not need to know the exact name for what you are feeling, or which category your experience fits into, before reaching out. Many people begin counselling with a sense that something feels heavy, confusing, stuck, or hard to carry alone.

ICBC counselling is part of my broader Individual Counselling services in Vancouver and online across BC .
